Hi Ladies,

After much consideration, we've decided to end the way the Welcomistas currently functions.

With the way the comments on SITS now allow for nested replies, Kat, Fran and I have been welcoming newbies quickly and easily.

Having said that, we of course, would love and appreciate any commenting you continue to do on behalf of SITS. We'd also love to see you in the blog frog community- if any of you have an interest in being a community lead over there- we switch it up each month.

SITS huge growth over the past year (we are over 7,000 strong!) is largely impart to your effort, so THANK YOU.

I'd especially like to thank Jen, who really kept things moving.

Re-evaluation

I just wanted to post a little update so that you all know what is going on. I have been talking with Tiffany and Heather about the future of the Welcomistas. To me, it just doesn't seem like people are out there going around and commenting on the lists. There are 60 some people following this blog and only 5 to 10 actively comment.

So for the summer, we are going to take a little break. I will be making lists and posting them about every other week or so. And then come fall, we are going re-evaluate things like maybe make a post on BlogFrog instead. I don't know, we are still brain stroming. If you have any ideas, let me/us know.

I now just want to say thank you to everyone who does go around and comment. And please, this post is in no means meant to make people feel gulity about not being able to get around. We all have a life and have to live that first. I just love SITS and everything that it stands for. So I want other people to know about it and feel the same love and support that SITS has given me. Its all about supporting each other and making people feel like they are apart of something big.

So I wish everyone a great summer and I will post a new list on Monday.

Sorry for the delay! Quick note on SITS badges - 11 of these 50 bloggers do not have a SITS badge (22%)!! Do we want to:
1.) Not visit them (maybe they no longer wish to participate and thus removed their badges?)
2.) Visit them and when we comment ask them to add a badge?
3.) Send an email asking to add a badge.

"New" SITStas To Welcome

Hi ladies! I did notice that there were a few Welcomistas on the list from last week and yes, the list may seem a bit old. It was from January and has brought us up to February this week. So, we may be welcoming some SITStas that have been with us for a few months. But, the important thing is, we are spreading the SITS love. I am going to interupt our normal schedule for a little update.

First, I let me introduce myself to those of you who don't know me. I am Jen from Buried with Children and I help Tiffany keep this blog going. There are a handful of us that work on posting the lists over here. Now, I want to say hello to all of our new Welcomistas. We are so glad to have you!

This blog is used to post a weekly list of all the new people that are joining SITS. As Welcomistas, we go around to theses new people and 'welcome' them to SITS and by doing this spread a little comment love around. This is a very important job because it gets more and more people to not only join SITS but to comment on roll call and then comment on other SITSta's blogs. This is what SITS is all about.

So we have a little problem, we are really far behind is welcoming people to SITS. If you think about it this is a good problem to have. So for this month, we are going to try and play catch up.

This is what is going to happen. I will take over posting the lists this month but each week, I am going to post a larger list and we are going to split it in half.

What I mean is this, I am going to post a list of 50 new SITStas (the normal is 20 or 25) and then if your last name is in the first half (A-M) of the alphabet, then you will comment/welcome the first 25 and if your name is in the last half (N-Z) then you will comment/welcome on the last 25.

The plan is by doing this for a month, we will be more current with our welcomings.

So that's the deal. In the previous post, there is a list of 20 newbies that need a welcome visit and I am going to list 20 more at the end of this post. Let's say that if you are an A-M last name then take the first list and then the N-Z names will take this one. And by all means, if you want feel free to visit all the blogs listed.

Oh and don't for get to leave a comment here when you are done with the lists or when you start just so that we will know who is out there helping with this. This really is what SITS is all about, sharing comment love, and I know that our efforts mean a lot to Tiffany and Heather.

Hellooooo!? Anyone still here? *tap tap tap*

I know that there has been a serious lack of posting over here and it is because life and other SITS duties have taken Tiffany over and there are not enough hours in the day for her to get everything she need to get done done.

So I contacted her and told her that I, Jen from Buried with Children, would like to take over organizing everything. We chatted more, she more than agreed and filled me in on the workings of this site.

This is what I was thinking we could do. So that keeping this site up to date does not fall on one person all the time, I thought that each of us, Welcomista's, could take a month and post the lists which would go up once a week. In exchange for this and as a way to say 'thank you' Tiffany said that for the month that one person is posting lists, they will get their button placed on the SITS site.

Isn't that awesome! Just think of all the exposure you will get. My fingers can barely type this, thinking about it. Squeeeee!!!!!

So if you are interested in posting 4 (sometimes 5) times a month over here, leave a comment and let me know. I will keep that master list and remind everyone when it will be their turn.

Hey Gang, I wouldn't normally use this blog for this.. BUT I was so moved that I just KNEW I had to do something and to be honest I trust you girlies and have great hope that you'll feel like I do.

I don't know if any of you caught ABC News's report on the Pomona, CA high school students who's teacher produced a video titled "Is anybody listening" See it here for some reason I couldn't get it to upload

It's heart breaking! And to add to the sadness I bet there are thousands of kids feeling the same way all over the country these days. I was especially touched by Chris. Maybe because he is around my oldest son's age. Or the fact that he cares so deeply for his siblings (one of whom has downs syndrome). Or that he let all the bravado of a teen aged boy drop and cried from his heart without reservation. I was touched by them all but even as I write here Chris's eyes come to mind and I still tear up.

I've been put in contact with his teacher and the school principle. I'd like to do something for this family and Mr.Steinman assures me that he'll personally make sure Chris and his family get whatever I can send them. I can't do much by myself but I think maybe if we brainstorm we might be able to do more together. Now I understand that times are hard and asking for donations is hard to. There is also that distrust that what you give will go where it is needed. I have those fears too. But I can't let the fear win this time. Oh, it helps that my brother is a police detective in CA and assures me he can check everybody out (the cynic in me lives!).

Now I don't know what I'm gonna do BUT I DO KNOW you are a creative and caring bunch and you'll give me some ideas.. right now that's all I'm asking. So let me know, what do you think? am I crazy, just a sap? Should I send a money order or things like Target cards? I plan to send a copy of the book I'm writing about saving money (think how to for a Woo Hoo box of your own).

Thanks for letting me reach out and for being the best bunch of total strangers, sitting anonymously behind computer monitors, in cities far away... that I've ever "known"!

Back from the Fishful Thinking Symposium in NY... it was INCREDIBLE.

Mamarazzi is also on the panel of 10, and it was so great to meet her... she as is fun and bright IRL as you would've expected.

If any of you really think the Fishful Thinking message is important, you might consider being an ambassador. They want a community of moms who will have a space to communicate on the site and spread the word. Hi Welcomistas!
I've been MIA for a few days. I see we have a ton of new bloggers to welcome. Yippee!!
It's been difficult for me to hit all the newbies, all the welcomistas and then still hit SITS everyday, but I am working on creating a schedule so that I can put everyone in rotation. My goal is to hit all of the welcomistas at least once a week. I'll hit the newbies once and if I like what I see I'll work them in as well. Of course I try to hit SITS and the featured blogger's three posts daily. Whew! And now I have to remember to click some ads as well....okay, okay...I can do this!!

FYI, I wanted to let you ladies know that I blog at www.resplendentlife.wordpress.com. Because I was invited to this blog using my gmail address, it automatically attached to my blogspot blog. I don't know how to update my Blogger profile to show that my real blog is over at wordpress, so I've decided to move some of my posts over to blogger. Just in case you clicked on my name and found this shell of a blog at blogspot, now you know where my bloggy home is ;)
I am currently on a 7 day vacation with my two young children and hubby had to back out at the last minute because of work (good times...not!). I'll be attempting to blog about it daily on blogspot.

I don't know about you but I'm LOVIN' this Welcome stuff.. YOU ALL seem to beat me to the punch but that's cool, I like gettin' in the last word (ha ha). I wanted to let you all know I just had a FAB guest blogger today and I'm giving away a Sephora card to go with the post.. she is a fashion and beauty insider and her advice is GREAT.. PLEASE stop by gang, put your name into the hat.. and if you can, shout out about it for me. I'm hoping to get a big giveaway from her employer, maybe if I'm too small time for it SITS could get it, I'm not sure I haven't really worked out anything, BUT traffic is key on this one. I had a busy day yesterday and didn't stop by the club house.. SO I missed getting my blog (and google ads) in the last post.. BUT someone must have thought of me because I made .24 cents yesterday!! HUGE for my Google tally... I've actually been considering a tongue and cheek post just about how much I DO NOT make with Google. I'm up to a whopping $30.07 and they don't pay you until you hit $100! But I'd blog for free anyway. sshhhh don't tell the hubby!!

I'll be popping by and clicking away on all of your blogs as well (daily hopefully).

When you visit a SITS site (including SITS), if you've got an extra second, click through there google or blogher ads, if you have them on you site, please let me know and I will get over there as often as possible and do so for you. It's a great way to help other bloggers, especially in these money tight times. A few dollars a day can really add up, and Heather and I want to give away some big prizes!

If you don't run ads, but have questions about doing so, feel free to email me. Google Adsense is very easy, especially if you use blogger.
